General
Our products are custom made. As such, they must be paid for by credit card or PayPal at the time of order and before any engraving design is started. We also accept personal checks, but you must wait until they clear before any work will be started on your product. If your check is not honored, we will charge you a $36 NSF (Non-Sufficient Funds) fee and you must make other financial arrangements to pay for your product before work is commenced.
Shipping
Due to the custom nature of our saber cases and engraving process, the shipping time can take up to 4 to 6 weeks after original order. However, if you need your order in a hurry or by a certain date, please be sure to let us know when you order, and we will try to work with you. If you do not notify us of your time requirement at the time or order and get our blessing and then come back weeks later with a time requirement you may have to pay extra fees to expedite your order. We are a home business, not a 24/7 corporation and occasionally take vacations and have family events both happy and sad, just like you. We will let you know if your delivery will be longer than the 4 to 6 weeks. Thank you for your understanding!
Shipping specialty products (i.e. “Big & Tall” cases, Double cases, Pistol cases, and Humidors) will take up to 6 – 8 weeks due to the extra customer interface required. See individual Product Notes for more information.
Please NEVER ship your sword or saber in the saber case! It will move back and forth in the case and permanently damage the wood frame and velvet, and possibly your saber, too.
We primarily use FedEx Ground for our shipping. For this option, you must supply us a physical address, because FedEx does not ship to P.O. Boxes. For APO/FPO we use the US Postal Service/Military Postal Service (MPS).
We don’t ship international. Call us for rates if you want to ship to Alaska or Hawaii.
For service academy cadets who have a paid move, order early enough for this to be included in your household goods shipment, and then shipping is free from your academy (you’ll still need to pay for us to ship it to your academy).
For more information on Shipping Options, see Question 9 in the Q and A section.
Engravings
In addition to the above general information, the custom engraving aspect is a lot of one-on-one time with each customer. We regret that we cannot send proofs or any graphics for your review prior to you committing and paying for an engraving or any product with an engraving. Unfortunately, a few prospective customers have used up a lot of our graphical design time and then never ordered.

General
All products are shipped either FedEx Ground or USPS with adequate insurance to cover breakage. We have an excellent success rate in shipping thousands of cases and to date only a few pieces of broken glass have been claimed. We do know breakage will occur, so we will make the process of getting a new product to you as easy as possible. Please keep any broken parts until we have said you can throw them away or that you need to mail them back to us or to the carrier.
Engravings
Our approval process guarantees that your engraving will be 100% accurate. You send us what you want engraved, and we make a design proof and email it to you. We will NOT engrave your plate UNTIL you approve the design via EMAIL (we will make as many changes as you want; YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER). However, after you receive your engraving, and then decide you don’t like the wording, there is no refund; you will just have to buy another one. If you buy an individual engraved plate, and it arrives bent, send it back and we will make a new one free of charge. If you receive a case with an engraving, and don’t like it and want a new one, you may order a new one at your expense. After receiving the new engraving, you can either leave the old engraving in place and simply put the new one on top of the old one, or you can remove it. Use caution removing the metal plate from the wooden plinth as the double-sided tape we use is very strong. We suggest you use a flat table knife to wedge between the metal and the wood. We accept no liability if you are injured during this process. If you are unwilling to remove the metal from the wood, then you can alternately unscrew the wooden plinth from behind (a much simpler process) and send the entire assembly to us. We will remove the metal, make a replacement part, and reattach the metal plate to the wood.
If you ordered a Deluxe Laser Engraved Plate, you will have no other option but to unscrew the wooden plinth from the back (one Phillips screw) and return this to us. This is critical as we need to make sure the pre-drilled pilot hole in your replacement plinth matches the original so that it will go on exactly where the original plinth was.
If you place an order for a product that has an engraving, and later decide that you don’t want the product, you will only receive a refund for the product, but not the engraving because we will have spent time designing it (we will mail the engraving to you).
Returns
We offer a 30-day money back guarantee which covers the cost of the saber case only and shipping back to us in the original container. The metal engravings cannot be returned for credit. This guarantee assumes you package the product properly and return it to us in the same condition you received it in. We will not credit cases that have been damaged due to your negligence. Please call us before returning a product so we can either fix the problem that is making you return it or we can instruct you on how to package it for return.
All of our handcrafted products carry a Limited Lifetime guarantee which includes problems associated with workmanship only. We will replace or fix your handcrafted product free of charge, with the exception of shipping charges. You will be required to ship the product back to us at your expense, in the original product box and shipping container with any additional packaging. We will ship it back to you at our expense only if there is a legitimate issue with workmanship. We will not replace products that have been damaged due to improper packing (i.e. shipping your saber case with the saber in it). We will also not replace products that have gone through the normal aging that happens to fabric and/or wood. Any damage done as a result of hanging your case improperly or using unapproved hardware (see Saber Cases section under Care & Liability) is not covered by our warranty. The determination to repair or replace your product will be made by R & R after we receive it and can determine which will be the best option.
Letter Openers
All letter openers are shipped USPS with adequate insurance to cover damage or breakage. Should breakage occur, we will make the process of getting a new product to you as easy as possible. Please keep any broken parts until we have said you can throw them away or that you need to mail them back to us or to the carrier.
We do not warranty this product as we do not manufacture it. Should you experience problems that seem to be manufacture related, please contact the manufacturer directly via the WKC Solingen website.
Wood Color
We use a dark walnut-colored oil-based stain (MinWax Provincial) for all 3 of our wood types. Each piece of American hardwood is unique and stains differently. The pictures of our cases show you an approximate color that you will get. We cannot guarantee that your saber case will look exactly like the picture on the website. If you have something that you are trying to match, we cannot guarantee an exact match. (See Question and Answer section for a more detailed explanation).

[accordion-item title=”Care & Liability”]
Saber Cases
To care for your case only dust it with a dry cloth, do not apply any kind of polish to it. Oil based polish and even water can permanently stain the velvet. We use lacquer to finish the cases and if water is allowed to sit on the wood, white spots can occur.
We do not manufacture sabers or swords, so you need to go to the manufacturer of your particular product to find out exactly how to care for it. However, we use silver polish on our Air Force saber to keep it shiny. After handling the saber, be sure to wipe it off with a clean cloth to remove fingerprints, which if left on could cause accelerated tarnishing.
When hanging the saber case, use only approved hardware made for the express purpose of hanging pictures. The hardware you use must be capable of supporting both the case and the sword. We recommend the hardware be able to support at least 20 pounds of pressure on each side, just in case a curious youngster wants to get the saber out to “play” with it.
We accept no liability for anything associated with the hanging of your case.
We make no claim that our cases can be locked and so you also bear the responsibility to make sure youngsters know their limits. Only the glass cases offer some inherent security as screws must be removed to get to the saber. The glass is double strength and if broken will cause a hazard. We accept no liability for accidents arising from any broken glass and stress that you must be diligent in the location you place the case to keep it out of harm’s way. Again, make sure all cases are not easily accessible to children.
Most manufacturers attach sawtooth hangers to their product with brads or nails. We use screws to make them more secure. Our sawtooth hangers are spaced 32 inches apart. This was a California customer’s idea so that they could anchor the screws in standard spaced studs to give more strength in earthquake prone areas. Yes, we do listen to your ideas and suggestions; keep them coming!
Letter Openers
We also accept no liability for any accident or injury caused by carelessness on the part of the user. The letter openers are not sharpened, but they can still cause injury to children if they are not supervised correctly.
